Procrastination: sự trì hoãn

Lazy might not be the reason we delay. Act of postponing or delaying task or actions that need to be accomplished is called procrastination.

Procrastination is influenced by several factors.

Procrastinator: người hay trì hoãn

I often feel tired and stressed while working on my assignments, so I set them aside and engage in activities like watching movies, playing games or scrolling social media, these activities bring me happiness and give a sense of relief.

Instant gratification bias: sự hài lòng tức thì

This tendency is called instant gratification bias. We prefer instant happiness over putting efforts into difficult tasks, because these tasks make us feel disappointed and stressed and we simply want to avoid these feelings.

So how to overcome this.

1. Breaking work into smaller tasks

Breaking your work into smaller tasks to make them more manageable.

2. Reward after completing

Reward yourself with enjoyable activities only after completing your task.

3. Motivate yourself

It's important to motivate yourself and simply start to work once we begin. We'll find it easier to continue.

The second reason could be perfectionism.

Perfectionism: cầu toàn

I personally struggle with perfectionism. I wanted to create Tiktok videos. I planned I prepared and set up everthing perfectly. However I started worrying that my video's wouldn't be as good as I expected, and I was afraid that my ideas wouldn't be well received. After a month, my Tiktok account was still empty, that's when I realized if I didn't take the first step, nothing would happen. I would never improve or achieve my dreams.

Mark Zuckerberg once said: "Ideas don't come out fully formed, they only become cleared as you work on them, you just have to get started".

Ideas only become clear as you work on them, so waiting for the perfect time is not necessary because it may never come.

Okay let's sum up our video.

To overcome stress No.1

Breaking work into smaller tasks to make them more manageable.

No.2 reward yourself with enjoyable activities after completing your task.

No.3 motivate yourself and simply start to work once we begin, we'll find it easier to continue.

And finally, perfectionism can sometimes hinder us from starting our ideas, so don't wait for the perfect time. Just do it!
